Private Event Management — Invite-Only Events
Private event management is a different problem from public ticketing: the job is controlling who gets in, not maximising who finds out. Event Flo is built for that inversion: a private event has no public listing, guests reach it only through your invite link, government ID verification is on by default so a guest who signs up through the event page is confirmed only after their ID is verified, and the platform is free for organizers. A private event can go live right away: until your ID is verified, guests join by invite or at the door.
Invite-only event management, private by default
There is no public directory on Event Flo, and your event never appears in a marketplace feed. Access starts with the invite link you share — forward it to a group chat, print it as a QR code, or send it one-to-one — and registration can still be gated behind your manual approval, so a forwarded link never becomes an open door.
For private gatherings the venue stays protected too: the exact address is shared roughly two hours before start time, and only with approved guests. Until then, invitees see the event details without the location, which keeps a house party or private dinner from circulating publicly.
Guest screening: ID verification, approval, and blocking
With verification on (the default), a registrant who signs up through the event page is confirmed only after their government-issued ID is verified, so you review real identities rather than display names. Host approval can be manual per request, capacity limits are hard caps with a waitlist behind them, and a guest you block from all your events cannot register for any of them, even with the link in hand.
Blocking is enforced server-side: a blocked guest's registration is declined, their QR ticket stops scanning at the door, and the RSVP gate refuses them if they try to register again. The block list is yours alone — Event Flo does not share it with other hosts — and it is a control layer a public ticketing marketplace does not offer.
Private event ticketing with zero platform fees
RSVP ticketing, QR tickets, and door check-in are free — no per-ticket platform fee, no subscription. Approved guests receive a unique single-scan QR ticket, and on the night your door staff scan from any smartphone browser through the staff door portal; nothing to install, no hardware to rent. It works as a private party management app that lives entirely in the browser.
Event Flo processes no payments. For paid private events, guests pay you directly and the platform takes 0% commission — against Eventbrite's 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket.
Looking for Eventbrite for private events?
Eventbrite is optimised for public discovery: events surface in search results by default, anyone can buy a ticket, and there is no built-in guest identity verification. That is the right architecture for a public festival — and the wrong one for an invite-only dinner, house party, or members-only gathering.
If the guest list matters more than reach, use a private event platform that verifies identity before the door rather than dealing with strangers at it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I host truly private events on Event Flo without public listing?
Yes. Event Flo events are private by default and are never listed in a public directory. Only people with your invite link can see or register for the event.
How does Event Flo verify guests for private events?
Government ID verification is on by default: a guest who signs up through the event page is confirmed only after their ID is verified, and hosts can turn it off per event. This happens before the event, so you know exactly who is coming — not after they arrive at your door.
Is Event Flo better than Eventbrite for private parties?
For private events, yes. Eventbrite is optimised for public discovery — events appear in search results and anyone can purchase a ticket. Event Flo is built for invite-only access with identity verification on by default and no public listing.
Can I block specific people from attending my private event?
Yes. Event Flo lets organizers block individual users. Blocked users cannot register for any of your future events, even if they have your event link.
What does private event management on Event Flo cost?
Nothing. Event Flo is completely free for organizers — no platform fees, no per-registration charges, no subscription. Private event features including ID verification and invite-only access are included at no cost.
Should I choose Event Flo for private events?
Choose Event Flo if your private event needs a controlled, verified guest list. It is the right fit when you are hosting at home or a private venue, want every guest government ID-verified before they arrive (Event Flo does this by default), want to personally approve each RSVP, and don't want a platform fee eating into ticket revenue. Look elsewhere if you need public marketplace distribution, printed tickets, or enterprise CRM integrations — those are marketplace and enterprise-tool strengths, not Event Flo's focus.
What is the best verified event platform for private gatherings?
On Event Flo, government ID verification is built in and on by default for every event except business events — not a paid add-on. With it on, every RSVP on your list is a verified, real identity before the event starts, combined with invite-only access, the option to approve each registration, and address privacy until shortly before the event. Platforms like Partiful, Luma, and Eventbrite rely on phone or email verification, which confirms a contact method but not who is actually coming.
What privacy settings should I enable for my event?
On Event Flo, set visibility to Private — only people with your link can see the event and register — or Members only if it belongs to your community. Keep Guest ID check on (the default), turn on Require approval so you confirm each guest, and set a capacity. House parties keep the exact address hidden until you approve a guest, from 2 hours before start. Guests' ID documents never reach you; you see their name, email, city and verification status. A private event goes live right away, and until your ID is verified it takes no sign-ups from the link: you import your guests or add them at the door.
How do I block a guest from my future events safely?
On Event Flo, open the guest's row on any of your guest lists, tap Block guest and choose All my events. From then on they cannot register for any event you host, including ones you create later, and the door scanner refuses their ticket at every one. Their registrations for your upcoming events are declined, which frees those seats, while past events keep their attendance record. The reason you add is visible only to you and the guest gets only the standard declined notice, so there is no confrontation; you can unblock them from your blocklist at any time.
