How do you start a social club?
The quick answer
Pick one format, like a supper club, book club or game night, a regular slot and a small first group. On Event Flo, post each meetup with its own page, cap and waitlist, take RSVPs in the browser, and give your regulars a community page to join. It is free, with ID checks on by default.
- No subscription: Free to run, at any size
- Community page: For your regulars
- ID checks: On by default
Why people host
Run one good meetup and you give people a reason to come back.
What stops clubs starting. And how we fix it.
- "Meetup wants a monthly subscription to run my group." Free to run, at any size: Event Flo has no organizer subscription and a 0% platform fee. If you charge for a meetup, guests pay you directly.
- "Our WhatsApp group is chaos." One link, one list: Keep the group for chat. Share the event link instead of a poll: people RSVP on the page, the count stops at your cap, and the waitlist takes the rest.
- "People say yes and never turn up." Reminders and a waitlist: Guests who RSVP'd get a reminder email the day before and another a few hours before. When someone cancels, the spot opens for your waitlist.
- "Every meetup feels like starting from zero." A community page for regulars: Give your club a community page that lists your events. Members join from it and get a notification when you post the next public one, and your Audience view shows who keeps coming back.
From first invite to regulars.
- Post the meetup: Date, place, cover photo, a cap, and a price if you're charging. The first time, a public event goes live once your ID is approved, usually within an hour; a private event can go live right away.
- Take RSVPs, not chat replies: Share the link in your group. People RSVP on the page, you can turn on approval to choose who joins, and the waitlist fills cancelled spots.
- Check in and post the next one: Scan passes from your phone at the door. Then duplicate the event, change the date and share the next one.
How to start a supper club, book club or game night
The short version, from the first invite to your first regulars.
- Pick one format: A supper club, book club, game night or walking group. One clear idea is easier to say yes to than a general hangout.
- Choose a regular slot: Same day, same time, same kind of place. People come back more easily when they never have to check.
- Start small: Six to twelve people is plenty for a first supper club or book club. Cap the event there and let the waitlist catch the rest.
- Supper club? Fix the menu: Cook one set menu, put the price per head on the page, and ask about dietary needs with a sign-up question.
- Give everyone a way in: Book club: one book everyone reads. Game night: two or three games that teach in five minutes. Walking group: share the route and the pace.
- Welcome the new faces: Greet people by name and introduce first-timers. Your Audience view shows who's been before.
- Post the next one before people leave: Say the next date at the end, then duplicate the event and share the link while everyone's still there.
Everything for a meetup.

Get it out there
Your event page, and the places people can find it.
- Your own event page: Cover photo, a full description, the date, the place and an RSVP button, all on one page with one link to share everywhere.
- Listed where people look: Public events appear on Discover and on your city's pages, where people already look for parties, meetups and runs.
- People nearby get told: When your public event goes live, people in your city who haven't switched off event emails hear about it.
Choose your crowd
Who gets in is your call.
- Waitlist: When you're full, new RSVPs join a waitlist. Let people in from it yourself, or turn on auto-promotion so the next person moves up when a spot opens.
- Approve each guest: Turn on approval and guests request to join instead of booking straight away. You approve or decline each one, so nobody gets in without your yes.
- Message your guests: Running late or changed the plan? Email every confirmed booking in one go.
Run the night
Smooth at the door, and it sets up your next one.
- A community page for regulars: Give your regulars a page of their own that lists your events. Members join from it and get a notification when you post the next public one.
- Reminder emails: Guests who RSVP'd get a reminder email the day before and another a few hours before start.
- Scan guests in from your phone: Check guests in with your phone's camera, right in the browser. It keeps working when the signal drops and syncs later.

Frequently asked questions
How does a supper club work?
A host cooks or arranges one meal for a small group, often friends of friends or people meeting for the first time, and guests pay a set price per head. On Event Flo you post each dinner with a cap and a price, ask about dietary needs at sign-up, and guests pay you directly.
Can I start a supper club at home in India?
Yes. Post the dinner on Event Flo with a cap and a price per head. Guests pay you directly by UPI, bank transfer or cash, and Event Flo takes 0%. Check your building or society rules on hosting, and local rules if you serve alcohol.
How do I start a book club with people I don't know yet?
Pick the first book and a public place, like a café, and cap it at about ten. Post it as a public event so people nearby can find it. Keep ID checks on (the default) and turn on approval if you want to choose who joins.
How do I host a game night for adults?
Pick two or three games that teach in five minutes, plan for four to six players a table, and set your cap to the tables you have. Add a sign-up question asking which games people already know.
Do I have to pay to run a meetup on Event Flo?
No. There's no organizer subscription and a 0% platform fee. Meetup's free plan stops at 10 attendees per event, and past that organizers pay a monthly subscription.
Can I run the same meetup every week?
Yes, as often as you like. There's no automatic repeat, so post each one yourself, or duplicate the last event and change the date.
How do members hear about the next meetup?
Members of your community page get a notification when you post a new public event for the community. You can also email every confirmed booking on an event, and share the link to WhatsApp in one tap.
How do I start a walking group?
Choose a route that loops back to the start, a pace everyone can talk at, and a regular time. Post each walk with its meeting point, and turn on approval if you want to know who is joining before you set off.
